A process where content creators unconsciously adapt their behavior, opinions, and output to align with audience preferences and algorithmic incentives. Rather than explicit demands, the creator is shaped by engagement signals—likes, shares, comments—that reinforce certain content types. Over time, the creator's authentic voice may drift toward a curated version their audience has implicitly selected.

A YouTuber who started making thoughtful film essays gradually shifts to clickbait thumbnails and sensational takes because those videos get more views and comments. Eventually, they're making content they don't believe in, driven by algorithm rewards and audience demands.

It is not simply having an audience or caring what people think. Many creators balance audience preferences with personal vision. Audience capture specifically describes a loss of creative control where the creator's original direction is abandoned in favor of what keeps followers engaged.
